Gebo simply means "gift," and its symbol — an even X — is read as two lines meeting as equals, neither one above the other. In the old world a gift wasn't free; it created a bond, an expectation of exchange between equals, which is exactly what this rune represents.

Someone born under Gebo is traditionally read through the lens of partnership — marriage, contracts, alliances, any bond that only works when both sides genuinely give. The classical reading treats an uneven Gebo (one side only ever taking) as the rune's real caution: the symbol itself is balanced, and the relationships it favors are meant to be too.
